Hi folks, I’m Laura, Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at Nottingham Trent University in the UK, academic mum and researcher in the broad field of language, gender and sexuality. My research specifically takes critical discourse approaches to gender and sexuality in the social domain of early child rearing, as well as representations of gender and sexuality in media discourses. My work within these broad research strands reflects a fundamental interest in the role of language in constructing normative understandings of gender and sexuality, particularly in a UK context, and in the usefulness of combining different aspects of feminist, queer and corpus linguistic methods and approaches for doing so.
